Upcoming/Ongoing Events:

May 28-31, 2010

I have been invited to be part of the programming for BayCon 2010 and have accepted. This will be my third year as a participant (I've been going for much longer than that) and I look forward to this convention every year. Hope to see you there.

News:

November 2009

I have participated in National Novel Writing Month NaNoWriMo since 2003. For 2009, I completed a fantasy novel about an older adventurer discovering the past isn't finished with him yet as he is called to help old friends protect the kingdom. If you're curious about my experience, check the NaNoWriMo category on my blog.

October 29-November 1, 2009

I attended the World Fantasy 2009 convention in San Jose, CA. It was my first World Fantasy convention, but I'm hoping it's not my last. The focus was very much on reading and writing, while everyone seemed to be there to have a good time. I reconnected with a college friend and made many new ones as well, on top of discovering a handful of talented authors to add to my list. I did not end up meeting any agents, so had no need for my one sheet, but I know of others who did. I did speak with a Canadian publisher who is just starting out, and looking for an interesting aspect of speculative fiction.

October 27, 2009

In preparation for World Fantasy, I created an information sheet for my novel Shadows of the Sun, which is currently seeking representation. Because it might be of interest to some of my visitors here as well, I have added a new page called Novels to my site (available from the sidebar menu). The information sheet is linked from that page.

October 12-18, 2009

Muse Online Writers Conference is the brainchild of Lea Schizas and Carolyn Howard-Johnson, who decided to provide an alternative to the expense and difficulty of traveling to a writing conference. Even better, the conference is free to participants, though donations are greatly appreciated. The content is offered by writers, publishers, editors, and agents who have volunteered their time to make this happen. This is an annual conference that I have been going to since 2006, and 2009 is my third year as a presenter. If you missed this year, make sure you take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for next year. More information is available here.
